September 2017 Newsletter

Hi Everyone,

 

My last newsletter was back in February so it's about time I sent out another one. I have now retired from my main job so I can concentrate more on Stitchworks. It is a full time job keeping the website up to date.

 

Since my last newsletter we have 6 new Glide thread colours. We now have some new colour charts available although 5 minutes after getting them they were out of date. The colours not on the colour charts are Brownie, Cool Grey 9, Airforce Blue, Admiral and Magenta.

 

We have put these on our Facebook page as well as the website.

Little (L) come in Navy, Black, Lt Tan, Lt Grey, White and cream. These are 90c each or 10 for $8.00.

We also have single drop in bobbins. These are prewound on a plastic bobbin. They fit my Janome machine. These are Black or White and are $1.00 each or 10 for $9.00

There has been interest shown in my pressure sensitive rotary cutter and I have sourced some for the “shop”. If they prove to be popular we will get some more. They are Omnigrid made in Japan and take the 45mm Olfa blades. The safety cover moves away from the blade as you press to cut and then back in place when you release the pressure. September 2016 Newsletter

Hi Everyone,

 

Spring is sprung , the grass is riz, I wonder where the boidies is…

We have heaps in our back yard and it’s great to hear them all. I have a wonderful display of daffodils this year as well. It doesn’t look like I’ve massacred the garden when I pick a vase full.

 

Time to come out of hibernation and get the creative juices flowing.

Well today they are warning us that it might snow in Taumarunui. Not yet, but it’s really cold today and wet.

 

I’ve come out of my workroom “shed” to let you know that we have 3 new fabrics.

There has been a request so far for hand quilting thread.

 

Our Glide polyester range can be used for machine embroidery. It has a lovely sheen and there are about 230 colours. I would imagine that it would be great for thread painting as there is a great range of shades. I have not had any experience of this though.

July Newsletter 2016

It’s been pretty cold lately and is a fabulous opportunity to get into the sewing room and sew.

 

 

 

Glide Thread

 

I made an error in the last Newsletter regarding the Harmony range . The Affinity range is polyester and comes in 900m and 2750m. The colours can be viewed on our website or colour charts are available. The Harmony thread is 100% cotton in variegated colours and comes in 460m or 2750m. We have the large cones but if anyone wants the smaller reels please advise us and we can get them for you. It would take about 2 weeks. I mistakenly said that the colours were the same as the Affinity range. Not so, the colours are different. I have not currently uploaded the photos showing the colours on the website but I will do so in the next week.

There are 32 new colours for the Glide polyester rangedodot. I have uploaded them all to the website. Unfortunately the new colours are not on the colour charts yet. I will let you know when they become available.

New Notions

 

There are glass headed pins 1 7/8 in/100 for $13.50.  Glass headed leader pins. These are 1 7/8in/50 for $12.00. These pins are thicker and can be used for pinning quilts to the leaders of your quilting frame. They are strong enough to pin layers together or thick fabrics.

Size 2 straight basting pins are also available 1 1/2in/75 $12.00.

 

 

Short Ends

 

These are generally the end of the bolt and are sold as a complete piece.

June 2016 Newsletter

Hi Everyone

 

Its Winter and Stitchworks is offering 25% discount off all flannel wide backing

for the month of June.

Dave and I have now had Stitchworks for 5 months and we thought it may be time to send out a Newsletter.

Firstly, I wish to thank all of the clients that have continued to support us and Stitchworks.

I am going to try and put out a Newsletter each month to inform you of new products and also advise of products that we no longer have. This may be because the lines have been discontinued and are no longer available or they are products that there is no interest for.

All of the rulers and long arm templates are now supplied by Jenny Allen at Quiltique. It made sense for Jenny to supply these as she demonstrates them when selling the machines.

We have some templates available which can be viewed on our website. Once these have been sold we will not be replacing them.

We still have needles, bobbins etc for long arm and domestic machines. These can be seen on the website www.stitchworks.co.nz with all of the other notions and supplies,

Glide Thread

We are the only suppliers of Glide Threads in New Zealand. We have Glide Trilobal Polyester in 1000m and 5000m reels. There is an excellent colour range in our stock of 205. There is the Affinity range which is the 900m variegated polyester thread. The same range in the large reel is called Harmony. We have Glow in the Dark thread for a bit of fun and Metallics.  We have not forgotten the ladies who use cotton. Glide Cairo-quilt thread is the 100% cotton range. We have the 900m size reels. The larger reels are not stocked but we can get them. An order takes about 2 weeks to get to us.

We also have pre-wound bobbins in the Glide polyester range as well as the Cairo-quilt cotton range. We have L (little) bobbins for domestic machines and M (Mega) for the long arm machines. Not all colours are available in pre-wound bobbins. See the colour chart for guidance – available on the website.

Glide threads can be used for piecing, quilting and embroidery with fabulous results. Glide polyester has a lovely sheen that enhances any machine embroidery.

We also stock Tutti and Konfetti threads from Wonderfil and Alex Anderson thread from Superior threads. There are colour charts available
